One interesting thing I find now is that when I travel around Italy, I prefer to find a cafe or restaurant where they don’t speak English – I find the staff more friendly and the food more interesting. I ignore the main tourist traps and go down the side-roads to find a more authentic place.

I mainly speak English all day at work too – even though I only work with Italians. Mainly because I am lame at Italian and also my colleagues really should be commended for their excellent English! I always attempt Italian first – it’s the thought that counts right?

Wow. You’re doing a load better than I am! My problem is that I speak English all day for my job, so I don’t really get much of a chance to practice. I so know that feeling of coming away from a conversation and remembering exactly what I SHOULD have said, 5 minutes too late, though. *facepalm*
